# 17: Write about the first time you defied your parents.
As I can remember, the first time I defied my parents was my freshmen year of high school. My parents had agreed on one rule, which was my sister and I were not allowed to ride in a car with a boy until the age of 16. They had several reasons for this rule, for example if the boy was to try something, kidnapping, accidents, etc. Well I had missed the bus one morning, and my neighbor down the road had his license, but was also 17 and I was 15 years old. We had became good friends and has always offered me rides, but couldn't due to my parents rule. That morning, my parents had already left for work, and my sister had made her bus. So I called up my friend, and he had picked me up. After school, he asked if I would like to ride with him instead of the bus, so I said yes because my parents do not get off until 5pm. Well, that was a disaster because come to find out, my mom only worked until noon that day. So, as I got out of the car, my phone was standing there at the front door waiting with a very disappointed, worried look on her face. I got yelled at by both parents, and grounded for a month. Also, I was unable to hang out with my friends after school for 2 weeks, which was horrible since I couldn't go to the football game those 2 friday nights. But, I had learned my lesson and did not ride with another boy until I was 16 years old. I do not like my parents nor anyone upset with me so I did my best to suck up and do everything I was told.

A Kids Dream Job
When I was a little girl, and still today I have always looked up to my mom. My mother has been my role model my whole entire life. My mother is a Nurse- RN, but is currently going back to school to become a Sonographer. Since I was 6 years old, I have said that, "I want to become a nurse just like my mom." My mom is the most caring, nicest, most outgoing person I have met in my lifetime. She works very well with people, and they trust her. I ended up turning out the same way. I am told that I have a way with people, especially children, they cling to me right away. As I was looking at different medical careers that I could go to school for, I decided that I wanted to go into Songraphy and become a Sonographer. I chose this because I love children, but I enjoy the pregnancy process. It's very exciting to me, and my mom once told me that when I was with her during her appointments to check up on my unborn sister that I was attached to the screen, and to how the doctor was doing what she was doing. My dream job as a kid was influenced by my mother, and I appreciate that because she is working in a great field. I can't wait to start working my dream job which I've had picked out since I was 6 years old.

What is a family?
The meaning of a family to me is those people are the ones that will always be there when no one else is. My life growing up was not the greatest, but my family was always there to take me in and help. What really made me realize that I could always rely on my family was the iccidents that acquired when I was younger. First, my parents did make sure that my sister and I had clothes, food, education, and shelter. But, the thing my sister and I need the most was to be in a loving, happy home which it wasn't. My parents were very young when I was born; my father was 22, and my mother was 17. My father became an alcoholic shortly after I was born until I was 8 years old. I remember my father being very abusive to my mom, and the police coming to our house atleast twice a week. My mom never pressed charges against him so he never got in trouble. Also, my dad used to take his anger out on me, especially when I would try to help my mother. He didn't appreciate it when I didn't listen to him when he told me to go to my room, or go play outside because I knew what was going to happen when I wasn't around. After the divorce, my parents never spoke to eachother nor even look at eachother. They fought how to raise us as divorced parents but never agreed. My mother and her side of the family is the family I remember the most raising my sister and I. As I grew up, my father and I barely got along because I remember clearly what had went on during my younger years.
