# 17: Write about the first time you defied your parents.
As I can remember, the first time I defied my parents was my freshmen year of high school. My parents had agreed on one rule, which was my sister and I were not allowed to ride in a car with a boy until the age of 16. They had several reasons for this rule, for example if the boy was to try something, kidnapping, accidents, etc. Well I had missed the bus one morning, and my neighbor down the road had his license, but was also 17 and I was 15 years old. We had became good friends and has always offered me rides, but couldn't due to my parents rule. That morning, my parents had already left for work, and my sister had made her bus. So I called up my friend, and he had picked me up. After school, he asked if I would like to ride with him instead of the bus, so I said yes because my parents do not get off until 5pm. Well, that was a disaster because come to find out, my mom only worked until noon that day. So, as I got out of the car, my phone was standing there at the front door waiting with a very disappointed, worried look on her face. I got yelled at by both parents, and grounded for a month. Also, I was unable to hang out with my friends after school for 2 weeks, which was horrible since I couldn't go to the football game those 2 friday nights. But, I had learned my lesson and did not ride with another boy until I was 16 years old. I do not like my parents nor anyone upset with me so I did my best to suck up and do everything I was told.
